The Kilmarnock fans were left frustrated by another day of missed opportunity as ten-man Inverness Caledonian Thistle fought back to earn a point.
The home side got off to the perfect start with a simple goal in the fifth minute. Stevie Murray's first touch took him beyond Ross Tokely and with his next he fired below the body of Caley keeper Mark Brown. The keeper seemed to hurt his ankle as he went down but was able to carry on.
Killie became complacent and paid the price in the 15th minute. Graham Bayne and Barry Wilson worked a short corner routine which caught the home defence napping.
Wilson had time and space to fire in a shot which deflected off the arm of Danny Invincibile and behind Alan Combe.
Wilson had another chance a couple of minutes later with a clear sight of goal but blazed his shot wide.
The home side shrugged off their lethargy and regained the lead with a glorious strike from Gordon Greer in the 28th minute. Invincibile started the move with a trademark run down the right.
He did well to turn Stuart Golabek inside out on the byline before cutting the ball back to Craig Dargo. His shot was well blocked by Grant Munro but it broke to Greer on the edge of the box and he rifled an unstoppable rocket that was still rising as it hit the back of the net.
Killie sustained their effort after going back in front and were unlucky not to stretch their lead before the break with Dargo and Kris Boyd both going close.
Thistle's day took another turn for the worse five minutes into the second half when experienced defender Stuart McCaffrey was unluckily sent off.
He and Dargo chased a long ball. The Killie striker was winning the race before the two players crossed and Dargo was sent flying. Although he was 40 yards from goal, McCaffrey was the last man and rookie ref Craig Mackay applied the letter of the law.
Invincibile had a chance to seal the victory in the 68th minute when his excellent run was matched by substitute Eric Joly's pass, but the Australian couldn't beat goalkeeper Brown.
The keeper was called on again three minutes later after a slick one-touch passing move which ended with a fierce drive from Murray which Brown was able to smother.
The home fans were stunned in the 83rd minute when the ten men produced an equaliser. Substitute Liam Fox pounced on a loose ball inside the home area in a rare foray forward and drilled a low shot past Combe from an acute angle.
