CALEY Thistle missed the chance to move off the bottom of the Scottish Premier League after the concession of a late penalty against Dunfermline.
Inverness manager Terry Butcher showed faith with the same starting line-up that had slumped to a 2-0 defeat at St Johnstone seven days earlier.
Given the chance to redeem themselves, Caley Thistle's players initially struggled and it was Dunfermline who made the better start, Paul Burns striking the post with a curling effort from 20 yards.
Eventually the hosts woke from their slumbers and Nick Ross had a goalbound shot blocked by Alex Keddie.
The Pars, however, were creating the better chances and John Potter forced Ryan Esson into a close range block from his header, before the Inverness goalkeeper excelled himself with a quite stunning save from Joe Cardle's powerful 16-yard drive.
Despite having the better opportunities, Dunfermline were made to pay for a defensive slip as Caley Thistle took a 33rd minute lead.
Austin McCann failed to cut out a pass from David Davis and Richie Foran produced a pinpoint cross that was headed home by Gregory Tade.
The second half began with both sides exchanging free-kicks, Greg Tansey going close for Inverness first before Graham's piledriver was comfortably held by Esson.
Esson was by far the busier and he did well to block a shot from substitute Liam Buchanan after he had been set up by fellow replacement Ryan Thomson.
Inverness introduced both Josh Meekings and Lee Cox for their first appearances of the season, but it was Ross who could have sealed the win, Gallacher doing well to turn away his shot from 12 yards.
As the latter stages approached, Caley Thistle looked in control, but David Proctor's rash challenge on Buchanan resulted in the award of a penalty to the Pars that Buchanan took himself, sending Esson the wrong way to equalise with four minutes remaining.
Dunfermline could have won the game late on, but Gary Mason fired just wide following good work by Steven McDougall, while Shane Sutherland had an effort beaten away by Gallacher in injury-time.
