Inverness get the pointInverness extended their lead in the race for European football with a 1-1 draw at home to Dundee.Graeme Shinnie's equaliser to David Clarkson's opener in the second half was enough to take a share of the spoils as neither side particularly dominated the Scottish Premiership game.Ross County's win over Dundee United at Tannadice means the Caley Jags now have an eight-point lead over Jackie McNamara's side with eight games to go.The advantage in the race for Europe lies with Inverness, who stand on the verge of securing continental qualification for the first time.Inverness made two changes from the side that lost 1-0 to Partick a fortnight agoDanny Devine and Danny Williams dropped to the bench, being replaced by Nick Ross and Aaron Doran.Dundee made one change from the team that drew 1-1 with Aberdeen
Greg Stewart came in for Alex Harris.The hosts ditched the three centre-back plan that they hatched at Firhill, with the introduction of Doran and Ross providing a more attacking threat and a creative support to Marley Watkins.Greg Tansey floated a 15th minute free-kick into the box but Watkins could not steer his header on target.For all their probing and early possession, the home side were only managing to test Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain from long range.Tansey managed to wriggle free from two challenges but his 20-yard effort was straight at the goalkeeper.Doran was next to take aim from distance, Bain parrying his first effort wide and the former Alloa man claiming his second one with ease.However, much of the first half was a pretty dire spectacle
Dundee expressed no willingness to get forward and test Caley Thistle, whereas the hosts were not getting in behind Paul Hartley's side
However, two goals in the space of a matter of minutes livened up the contest.Stewart and Paul McGowan combined to tee up Clarkson, who prodded a foot at the ball to take it beyond Ryan Esson and give Dundee the lead
However, Inverness responded immediately as Ross steered a cross in from the right that evaded the head of Christie
Fortunately, Graeme Shinnie was on hand at the far post to drive back across goal and into the far corner
Dundee had chances through Thomas Konrad and Clarkson, German defender Konrad headed a corner wide while Clarkson floated a free-kick wide of Esson's far post
John Hughes brought on Edward Ofere for Christie with 20 minutes to go and moved Watkins out to the right and it had an immediate impact as the Nigerian raced on to a Watkins flick-on and lifted the ball over Bain, only to see it trickle wide of the far post
Ofere was involved again shortly after, planting a header into the ground from David Raven's cross - but the game ended 1-1
