Caley Thistle continuted their recent good form by beating Livingston 2-0 in a scrappy match at the Caledonian Stadium.

First chance of the match fell to Inverness's Spaniard Carricondo Juanjo after a slip by Oscar Rubio let the Caley winger through, but his shot was well saved by Roddy McKenzie. Juanjo came close once again when his 20-yard drive was saved well, but it was an early indication that the ex-Hearts forward was in the mood.

The visitors nearly opened the scoring thanks to an accurate David McNamee cross which found Derek Lilley, but the Livvy striker put the ball over when it looked easier to score.

The home side broke the deadlock after 38 minutes. The ball was played into a packed goal area, Darren Dods nodded down for Graham Bayne and the on-form striker hit a sweet half-volley into the corner of the net.

Livingston retaliated immediately with Jim Hamilton getting his head on the end of a Burton O'Brien cross but he dragged it wide. Just before the interval a Barry Wilson free-kick nearly caught out Roddy McKenzie but his shot went wide of the target.

The visitors looked hungry after emerging for the second half and they nearly equalised after 53 minutes. Richard Brittain found himself one-on-one with subsitute keeper Michael Fraser who had come on for the injured Mark Brown, but his shot hit the inside of the post.

Caley brought on youngster Darran Thomson for the last 10 minutes and he made an immediate impact with a 25-yard shot that went just over.

Livingston had the ball in the net with seven minutes left, but subsitute Marc Libbra 's effort was ruled offside.

The game was over as a contest with three minutes remaining. Barry Wilson capitalised on a mistake by Rubio and eventually found the net after two attempts. O'Brien nearly pulled one back for the visitors when his 30-yard effort hit the bar but it was too little too late.
