Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood went with the same starting line up that secured a point against Hibs at Easter Road last Saturday. Inverness CT boss Charlie Christie however made three changes to his side following last week's home loss to newly promoted St Mirren.
The start of the game was held up for four minutes to allow fans into the stadium following some minor problems with the Dons new turnstyle system. The hosts made a bright start playing some neat passing football but never really threatened Mark Brown in the Caley goal.
The first chance of the game went to the visitors when Barry Wilson found space down the right, he fired in a dangerous low cross which was scrambled away by the Aberdeen defence.
On 28 minutes Aberdeen took the lead with their firstt real attack of the game, a ball from the back found Richard Foster in space, he played it forward into the path of Stevie Crawford, who looked just offside but the flag never came. This allowed Crawford to roll the ball under the advancing Mark Brown to notch his second goal of the season. On 37 minutes Barry Nicholson almost doubled the lead with a sweetly struck free-kick that Brown did well to beat away.
Inverness CT looked the team most likely in the opening 15 minutes of the second half but it was again Aberdeen who almost grabbed a second. Russell Anderson drove forward into the visitors half before finding Jamie Smith on the left, Smith then cut inside Ross Tokely before firing just wide.
Inverness CT never gave up and levelled the game in bizarre circumstances with just two minutes remaining. The ball was played long into the box and was caught by James Langfield who then collidied with Richie Byrne and Anderson before dropping the ball at the feet of Barry Wilson two yards out. He wasted no time in rolling the ball home to send Inverness CT back up the road with a share of the points.
