Tokes Distressed At Loss!

Caley Jags defender Ross Tokely may have scored the opening goal in ICT's first SPL win in three months, but the big man lost something very dear to him on Saturday - a 15-year-old shinguard!

Superstitious Tokes was involved in a typically tough tackle on St Johnstone's Murray Davidson and one of the veteran defender's cherished shinnies split in two, after a remarkable 15 years and 545 games' service.

Big Ross shrugged off the loss though, with his thundering header helping ensure Inverness took all three points for the first time since November 2010 - and he hopes to repair his treasured leg protection in time for the next game.

Tokely told the Press & Journal: "I did take a bad one and my ankle's pretty sore. I snapped my 15-year-old shinguards, so I'll have to patch them up.

"The shinguards are old but I'm very superstitious, so I have kept them and worn them for all of my 500-plus games.

"I like them, although they are a wee bit smelly now. Luckily, they are fixable.

"They are not good ones by today’s standards and I take a lot of stick from the other lads for wearing them.

"But I’ll knock a few dents out of them this week and they should be all right."
