INVERNESS boss Terry Butcher was satisfied with the way his players had coped with the challenge posed by the weather in their goalless draw with Motherwell.
The hosts needed some excellent first-half saves from Darren Randolph to ensure the shut-out, but they had the better of the second period without working Inverness goalkeeper Ryan Esson.
The half-time shift in power was entirely predictable given the fierce wind which, accompanied by a steady downpour rain and a heavy pitch, were a perfect advertisement for a winter break as the SPL clubs prepare to discuss changes to the calendar and league structure on Monday.
"I thought the conditions were awful and both teams tried to get the ball down and pass it," the former Motherwell manager said.
"There were quite a few mistakes because of the wind. It led to an end-to-end game. It was very stretched in the second half.
"We're disappointed because we had some really good chances - Randolph had some really good saves in the first half. That's two SPL games in a row without a goal but I was really pleased with the unity of team."
