Inverness Caledonian Thistle goalkeeper Ryan Esson says he and his team-mates will not get carried away despite their terrific recent form.
Esson dismissed questions over their ability to qualify for Europe and of a potential Scotland call-up for him.
Caley Thistle sit fourth in their first season back in the Scottish Premier League and Esson is happy to give the plaudits to the manager Terry Butcher.
"He has got us believing we can get results every week," said Esson.
"He has instilled belief, he has made us a tight unit - I think we work ever so hard for each other.
"We do that every day in training. It's not rocket science. It's boys working as hard as they can and we don't give teams too many chances.
"We defend for our lives and hopefully that'll stand us in good stead for the rest of the season."
But Esson did concede Caley Thistle's success so far was not built solely on a work ethic, acknowledging the attacking input of players like Jonny Hayes and Adam Rooney.
"These guys are in really good form," he added.
"We basically let them go and do it, saying 'right, we'll sit back here and you just do whatever you can do' and I think it gives them the freedom to go and express themselves the way they can."
Butcher admitted after the 1-1 draw with Rangers he was powerless to stop other clubs making offers for those in-form players in January, but Esson knows the importance of holding on to them.
"I hope they don't go, but it's not January yet. We've got another few games to come so hopefully we can keep them on form and see where it takes us."
Esson has seen Blackpool's Matt Gilks and Cammy Bell of Kilmarnock called in to recent Scotland squads, but he remains modest about his own chances of following that lead.
"I don't really think about it. I like the guys who win us games to get all the praise because they're the ones who excite people who come here," he continued.
"If it (a Scotland call-up) comes up then that's brilliant but these guys (Gilks and Bell) are really good goalkeepers and what right do I have to be in there over them?
"So if it comes up, that's excellent for me, but if not I'll just keep doing what I've been doing.
"I'm trying to keep out an international keeper (at Caley Thistle) in Jonny Tuffey, so that's hard enough in itself, so it's definitely head down and keep working."
