Caley Jags gaffer Terry Butcher says an improved contract offer will be made to try and keep Adam Rooney at Caley Thistle.
The 22-year-old striker can sign a pre-contract as his present deal with Caley Thistle expires at the end of the season, despite the January transfer window passing without the player leaving the TCS.
Butcher has repeated his wish to keep the club's top scorer in Inverness beyond the end of the season.
Butcher told the Inverness Courier: "I think not only has the transfer window closing taken a weight off Adam’s shoulders, it’s taken a weight off everyone at the club as well.
"We have always said that this club doesn’t want to lose him.
"The plan is to offer him another contract eventually, but that will all be done in due course. It is not something we’ve put a timescale on."
