CALEY JAGS striker Adam Rooney could be in the verge of a move to the English Championship.
Reading and Derby County are understood to have sent scouts to assess the club's top scorer during Saturday's 2-1 victory at Hamilton.
The Irishman is currently considering a new contract offered from the Highland Capital club, but his 21 goals this season have attracted interest from clubs down south.
ICT gaffer Terry Butcher told the Inverness Courier: "There’s a lot of scouts watching him, but he knows that his value will increase dramatically if he stays with us.
"People are saying he’s had a great first season in the SPL, can he do it again? Perhaps that makes clubs unsure about taking him, but I don’t know that’s up to them.
"What I am sure about is that we want him. We love him at the club and he knows that we’re going to bring in different players next season, exciting players.
"If he goes it will be a really big miss for us and we’ll have to bring in another player for that role, and they are big shoes to fill.
"However, I’m not looking at that. I want to get him on board for next season."
