INVERNESS CT have rejected a £100,000 bid from Russian club Kuban Krasnodar for leading scorer Adam Rooney.
Caley Jags boss Terry Butcher confirmed this morning that the bid was turned down, and that he still hopes that the 22-year-old will sign the deal on the table to keep him at the TCS.
Interest in Irishman Rooney has increased during the transfer window, and the club expects further bids before the window slams shut on January 31st.
However, the board will be looking for a multiple of the £50,000 they paid Stoke City in 2008 as he is having such a prolific season.
Butcher told the Press & Journal: "We have had an official bid from Kuban Krasnodar which is not acceptable. We value the player a lot higher than what has been offered.
"We have a figure in mind, but we will wait and see if it comes to fruition.
"There are other clubs interested and people are aware there is movement with regard to Adam’s position.
"We are not necessarily resigned to losing him in January. We would still like him to stay.
