Caley Thistle winger Jonny Hayes is desperate to be ready to line up against Celtic at Caledonian Stadium on the opening day of the SPL season, August 14.
The Dublin-born forward is having a scan on his knee today after picking up the injury last month, which means he certainly misses Saturday’s League Cup tie at home to Queen’s Park.
He told the Press & Journal: "I think Celtic up here on the first day is a realistic target for me to aim for.
"The town has been electric since news came out we were playing Celtic on the first day, especially with us being back in the SPL.
"I’ve had quite a few requests for tickets and I would expect that to rise as the day comes closer but our priority is to try to get off to a positive start."
