CALEY JAGS boss Terry Butcher's belief that ICT should focus on league points was strengthened after yesterday's fine away win in Paisley.
The manager came under fire from some Caley Jags fans for playing a weakened team against Celtic in midweek.
However Eric Odhiambo scored two goals in the 2-1 win at St Mirren and Butch said this proves he was right to rest the striker in the CIS Cup.
Butcher said: "The boys came into the game under a bit of pressure, having lost nine goals in two games and not taking any points last week.
"I'd deliberately left players out on Wednesday ahead of this game and hoped they'd justify that here - Odhiambo had two lovely finishes, but I don't think he'd have done that if he'd played on Wednesday, one or two were starting to get a bit leggy towards the end because they put a shift in then.
"It was a little bit of quality at the right time as it it was a wretched first half, so the goal was like an oasis, a shining light.
"This was a great three points for us against a spirited St Mirren side, and now we've taken seven out of nine points away, although none at home yet."
