But the manager revealed his players were not entirely overjoyed with the outcome. Despite the win, Caley Thistle were never able to produce a free-flowing performance to make the team happy, according to Butcher.
He said: "It was a difficult match in some respects because the surface was not conducive to free-flowing, passing football. It was more of a gritty performance from ourselves and the players didn't enjoy it very much, but it's another victory and you have got to be happy with that."
He added: "Nick Ross was making his 50th appearance for the club, we've reached 50 league goals for the season and we're on 50 points, so it seems to have been a lucky number for us."
Hibs boss Colin Calderwood was left to rue what might have been for his side had they taken the lead before the interval.
He said: "It's disappointing that we didn't open the scoring.
"In the first half, we showed our superiority and the half-time score was perhaps a bit harsh on us.
"However, the second Caley Thistle goal was a terrific goal and certainly worthy of winning any game.
"That made it 2-0 and in the end we needed something to bounce in our favour, but that never quite happened."
