DAY 5

Last updated : 22 October 2005 By Gringo Jnr

A decent day with the weather on our side and all blisters attended to. The intenstion for the day was to reach Crieff in good time to meet some Central Belt based ICT supporters. The overnight stay was due to be above a pub on this night, so all the more need to set off early.
Canary was to join us again for this leg, which was to see us cross the famous Gleneagles golf course later.
We set off over the Tay River where Mrs Gringo was to see her Blue cap for the last time. The wind had taken it away with a sudden gust, so it made a change for Junior and the Dawn Chours to avoid any blame.
UA tooted as he drove past with Bronson and Elvis on board, and the first few miles of the day seemed to go rather fast.
The usual pace setters ITN and Junior sat back to begin with, until ITN again decided a jog was the order of the day. Junior attempted to run in little spells, but walking was the best course of action for his aching knees.
We all made it to Dunkeld Railway station, where we saw the London bound GNER train speed past. We had a toot from the driver and found our way once again away from the A9. It was here where Junior again though “football” and proceeded to kick a near-flat ball a further half mile down the road.
The pack was seperating once again as the variences in pace were beginning to set in. Eventually we all made it to Gleneagles golf course, where inevitably, more photo oppertunities were ‘snapped up’. We headed on in and followed the public footpath signs around the fairways, and out into open fields.
Below was a small Village from where we had our pit stop. We crossed the main Stirling to Inverness railway where more drivers were spotted with the ‘orn.
We settled down for a swift drink and some fruity refreshments, and continued our way towards Crieff. The pub was calling out to us, as was the pool table. UA and those aboard the bus were staying in contact most of the day, and Mrs Gringo had now joined the team on board.
As we headed into Crieff, we all knew there was just 1 and a bit days to go until the finish of what was turning out to be a very eventful week together. Who would have thought a group of complete strangers would gel together so well like they had done.
A small group of people, were awaiting our arrival at the bar and Bronson and Elvis were on the pool table trying to get ITN to submit, whilst Junior was smelling the bar out with now regular strong scent of Deep Heat
Again it was ITN and Junior sharing accommodations tonight, and proof was found in the King of Snore – Gringo Junior
