You may remember Brewster made this offer to Rangers after the draw for the group stages of the Champions League.
At present Rangers are facing a gruelling schedule at the end of October, 5 games in just 13 days. That schedule begins with the home tie against Artmedia Bratislava and ends with an away tie against the same team. The match with ICT is scheduled for the 29th, just a few days before the away leg and if postponed it would allow Rangers 6 days to prepare themselves for what will be a crucial European tie.
Brewster is eager to give any Scottish team a helping hand in Europe and the SPL are likely to rubber stamp any agreement made between the two clubs. Rangers chief executive Martin Bain said yesterday “We are talking in the hope of settling on a suitable alternative, and then we could take that proposal to the SPL. Caley Thistle have shown a willingness to co-operate which Rangers appreciate. The game might have to be held over until the New Year, but we feel there is an opportunity to give the manager and players more time to prepare for the fixture in Bratislava. So long as there is no competitive disdvantage to the other 10 clubs, and we see none, we would hope the SPL would be amenable.”
The SPL Chief Exec, Ian Blair, would only say that any proposal by the two clubs would be looked at, but the SPL have a history of helping clubs who have made requests for fixture changes to help European campaigns. They switched Celtic's home game with Dundee two years ago to allow the Parkhead side more time to prepare for the Uefa Cup Final in Seville.
