Mr Cameron, who first joined the board 9 years ago, has served in two separate spells. He will succeed George Fraser at the AGM on September 22 when Mr Fraser steps down as Chairman.
Mr Cameron is presently Operations Director and the Board felt with a number of on-going initiatives both at operational and board level an Executive Chairman role was appropriate for a period of time.
"Both Kenny and the Board do not see this as a long term arrangement", said Mr Fraser, "but the board was united as one in agreeing his appointment. I'm very pleased as he knows how this club ticks, has sound judgment and is committed to Caley Thistle going forward."
Kenny Cameron said: "I became Operations Director 15 months ago and it is with a combination of pride and humility that I have accepted the invitation to become Executive Chairman."
"I look forward to working with my fellow directors, team manager Terry Butcher and all the staff at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium to help the club in any way I can. Running a football club is a challenging business nowadays but I relish this opportunity as I have confidence in their proven record of achievement, both on and off the park.
"As I stated when I joined the Board, this club is most successful when everyone concerned pulls together and works for the common good. We have a tremendously loyal support and an equally supportive group of shareholders and benefactors. Collectively we can work together to meet the aspirations of all"
"On behalf of the Board I would like to thank George for his term as Chairman. He has been a steadying hand on the tiller as we navigated our way through the choppy waters of relegation and promotion. I recall his words when he stepped up to Chairman stating that talking should be about what we achieve on the field and not of what is happening in the Boardroom, something I whole heartedly agree with, so it will be very much business as usual at ICT in this respect".
"We will be continuing discussions with the group of expatriates who are keen to invest in the club and pursuing every avenue to help Caley Thistle thrive and succeed."
Mr Cameron is a civil engineer who runs his own business consultancy and is also partner in a successful events firm who were instrumental in bringing Rod Stewart to a sell out crowd at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium last year.
