Captain Richie Foran and team-mates Ross Tokely and Ryan Esson are urging walkers from across the north of Scotland to take part in a family-friendly 10km summer evening walk in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The event will take place on September 3 at the Belladrum Estate.

Funds raised will support Marie Curie nurses, who provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.

Richie Foran said: "Walk Ten is a brilliant occasion, giving families the chance to walk 10km in stunning surroundings while raising money for a fantastic charity.

"I hope as many people as possible from the north of Scotland sign up to help raise funds for Marie Curie."

Flora MacKay, a local Marie Curie nurse, joined the Caley Thistle players to kick off the event. She said: "Walk Ten recognises the dedication of Marie Curie Nurses, who work through the day and night providing care, free of charge, to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.

"We couldn’t do this without the generous support of people who raise funds."

The event starts and finished in the sunken Italian Garden. The route will take participants through the majestic forest pathways and beautiful open farmland, passing ancient temples and unique estate architecture.

Supported by HomeServe, it starts at 6pm with fun activities taking place throughout the evening, such as fireworks, live music, and picnics, in celebration of the work of Marie Curie Nurses.

Registration is £10 per person (children go free) but everyone is encouraged to raise as much as possible to support Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Robbie McIntosh, Marie Curie Cancer Care events manager for Scotland, said: "We need the support of participants to enable Marie Curie to continue its invaluable work throughout the year.

"Aside from being a fantastic way to raise money and celebrate the incredible work our nurses do on a daily basis, we’re confident that Walk Ten is going to be great fun and an unforgettable experience for all involved."
