A BBC Sport 'Price of Football' survey released yesterday has put us top of the league for affordability when it comes to a package of the cheapest adult ticket, a cup of tea, a programme and a pie.
Their research shows that Tulloch Caledonian Stadium is the best value location in the SPL, charging £21.90 for the package.
Hibs, by contrast, are bottom of the table with a £29.20 price tag -- so Caley Jags fans are better off than Hibees faithful by a whopping £7.30 every home game. The difference adds up to £131.40 in a season!
After Hibs, Rangers and Celtic are the most expensive places to watch football, with Ibrox at £29 and Celtic Park only 50 pence cheaper.
BBC Sport website editor Stuart Rowson says that some teams are treading the fine line between providing value for money - or are profiteering from passion and dedication. Clearly, Caley Thistle are tops on the right side of the line.
Caley Thistle operations director Kenny Cameron told the official ICTFC website: "The BBC survey results come as a very pleasant surprise. The board has worked hard, within its financial restrictions, to place the emphasis on affordability and it is encouraging to see that, by comparison, we offer best value.
"This may be one reason why our season ticket sales have increased for this campaign.
"The disparity between matchday costs for a Caley Thistle fan and some other clubs is quite staggering. We have always regarded ourselves as a community club, with the emphasis on getting fans through the turnstiles by offering as much value as can reasonably be offered. It's nice to see proof that our fans get their money's worth."
